Help! I am looking for a low auto insurance quote. My husband and I have been laid off and we are trying to cut costs everywhere. What do you recommend to keep our costs down or should we just go without insurance until we have more money?
Abby L. – Phoenix, AZ
Abby,
Getting auto insurance quotes Phoenix can be tough. But whatever you do, DO NOT go without auto insurance. In some states it’s illegal to not have insurance. You never know when you may be in an accident and there are so many things you can be responsible for if you are in one. Here are a few tips:
Call your current carrier and ask if you qualify for any discounts on your auto insurance. Some common discounts include: a good credit record, safe driving record and low mileage driven.
Ask your current carrier for an auto insurance quote with a higher deductible. This may lower your monthly premium and any costs will only be applied if you are actually in an accident.
Then get two additional auto insurance quotes Phoenix. We recommend looking on the internet (you can start by inserting your zip code in the banner below this blog) as well as contacting companies direct. Ask them about discounts and higher deductibles too.
Good luck!

My son is currently in the military. We are planning on him being away for close to a year. His car is still here at our home in AZ and no one will be using it. What is the best thing to do with his auto insurance? Should we keep paying it, stop it altogether or is there special military auto insurance for those presently serving?
Dan B. – Sun City, AZ
A – Dan,
Yes there are special military auto insurance Phoenix policies. It may also be possible that you can put a hold on either part or all of his auto insurance coverage and once he returns, you can re-activate his policy without any penalties. For more information, I would get a quote on military auto insurance Phoenix online which will allow you to compare several carriers and then call your present carrier and discuss with them.

I am not happy with the auto insurance quotes I have received. I want cheap insurance and good coverage. Is auto insurance any cheaper online? Is it safe? Are the quotes accurate?
Ron K. – Paradise Valley, AZ
Ron,
Getting online auto insurance quotes Phoenix is very safe and hassle-free. The quotes are provided by real companies, are the most current rates and offer you choices for coverage. Help! My husband’s 17 year old son is coming to stay with us. He doesn’t have a car and my husband insists on buying him a used one, although I don’t think it’s a good idea. He has a DUI, a few speeding tickets and a ton of parking tickets on his record already! Will he be able to get his own teen auto insurance policy or will he have to go on ours? If he goes on ours, how much more will we have to pay each month?
Martha Y. – Goodyear, AZ
Martha,
It looks like you will have your hands full, but the good news is there are lots of options out there for teen auto insurance Phoenix policies. His policy may have rate increases because of his history and probably won’t be eligible for discounts, but your best bet is to do lots of research. Call your current carrier and ask how much it would be to get him his own policy vs. adding him to yours. Then look online where you can research multiple carriers at the same time. Be sure to have a policy in place before he starts driving any of your cars! Oh, and the parking tickets won’t affect the teen auto insurance Phoenix rate. Just be sure they are all paid or he may be at risk to have his car towed!

I hear lots of conflicting information on how to get a better car insurance rate. Can you tell me a few of the main points to consider when I look for cheap car insurance in Phoenix?
Mary, Phoenix AZ
Sure Mary, its both confusing and not our favorite subject to deal with. However, you can get potentially great savings by keeping the following key points in mind when you apply or research your auto insurance coverage:
1) Shop around and get competing quotes. Try to get at least three if possible. You can find out the name of insurance companies in your state by contacting your state insurance department. You can then call the companies directly or you can look on the internet.
2) Also make sure you take into account the cost of insurance BEFORE buying a new or used car. The make and model of the car along with some of its features may drastically affect the cost of your yearly insurance. It could change your mind as to which car you buy!

3) You can also ask for a higher deductible. If you’re a safe driver it may be beneficial to weigh the monthly cost of your insurance vs. the cost of paying some of that back in the form of a higher deductible when you actually need it!
4) Another point that many of us forget is to reduce the coverage we have on our cars as they age and their value goes down. You might consider dropping collision or comprehensive coverage if you car is worth less than 10 times the premium. You can get an estimate of the current worth of your car at http://www.kbb.com which is the site for Kelley’s Blue Book.
5) Other types of discounts consist of: Good credit record, low mileage, and possible group insurance (if your part of a designated professional organization). You can also ask your current or proposed insurer if they have any other possible discounts.
Overall, just keep in mind that the company with the lowest quote or price may not be the one with the most discounts. Keep the final quote in mind when you compare. You can start your process by checking out some of the cheap car insurance Phoenix quotes by inserting your zip code only and clicking on the banners on this blog. Leave a comment and let us know how it worked out for you! Good Luck and Happy Shopping!
